blah

Waiting for Daddy in the front yard.

Playing "the racing game" with Daddy. This is one of Carter's favorite things to do after Addie goes to bed. Stuart and I just crack up watching him play, he's so animated and moves his whole body.

As you may have noticed, I've had a lackluster attitude towards blogging lately. Some of it's because I feel exactly like the cartoon I posted a few posts ago - nothing real exciting to blog about, some because the weather has been so hot that I don't feel like sitting at the computer, and mostly because I've been preparing for my recital this weekend! The house has been a little crazy the last couple weeks, but I'm lucky to have Stuart, Mom/Dad/Lauren, and Duane/Dana for helping out with the kids. They've all been so great about taking the kids extra time and letting me have tons of practice time alone! I'm feeling pretty good about things, so now it's just time to get it over with!

youtube fun

You have to watch this video! For some reason it hit my funny bone, plus I like the music. Some jeans company should pick this up and make a commercial out of it!

my favorite little girl

An ode to Adelynn

I love how much you enjoy non-stop splashing in the bath. I love that you still sometimes have that newborn cry right when you wake up. I love the dance you do when sitting on the floor. I'm glad that you are a daddy's girl! I love watching you try to figure things out, like your obsession of putting lids on cups, and that your head tilts to the side when you're really concentrating. I'm glad that you like to get your nose wiped and teeth brushed, and you think it's so funny! I love that you're a daredevil and have no fear, quite unlike your brother! I love that you take after me when I was your age, and are still pretty much a baldy. But I do love those few curls you have at the nape of your neck, and the frizzy old-man hair that's right above it! I like when you pat your little buddha belly when we get you undressed. I can tell you're a true girl because of how much you like to play with my jewelry and buttons! I love when you get the stares, and how long it usually lasts. I have to laugh at the fact that I find your bite marks on virtually everything in the house! Although this might not be so great in the future, I love how mischievous you are and that I'm still able to keep control over your troublemaking since you're not walking yet! I love that you wave everytime the door is opened, and you also use it to say "thank you!" I love that you love rough-housing with Carter! I absolutely love your new trick of nodding "yes" whenever we ask you a question, and that you look like a bobble-head doll when doing so! I'm amazed that you already know the difference between a question and statement too! I'm thankful that you sleep so well, and through the night a majority of the time! I like that your eyes are still an indeterminate color - sometimes they look green, sometimes brown, and sometimes grey. I think it's hilarious when you try to crawl when wearing a skirt or dress. You get up on your hands and feet and look like an awkward little bug going across the floor! I love when you make car noises, which you learned from you brother! And of course, I love that you are my little girl! I love you tons!!

baby!

Congratulations Ben and Cindy on new baby Gabriel! Boy #4!

We went to the hospital to see him today, and he's SO cute!! I can't believe that Addie was this small just a little over a year ago!

my favorite little boy

An ode to Carter!

I love the color of your hair, and the fact that it's waterproof. The words you say that I'll miss when you learn them the right way: baskethoop (basketball), crocodikle, "fork it up," and the fact that you talk in 3rd person. I love your profile and your huge blue eyes. I'm glad that you are so protective of Addie, even to me when I raise my voice at her. I love that you ALWAYS want to race. I like that you find joy in picking flowers for me, and that they're always dandelions. I love that you're so sure of yourself. I am amazed at how good your memory is, and you always let me know when I get something wrong! I think it's funny when I find you hiding after you've done something you know you're not supposed to do, and usually it's because you snuck some candy. I don't know how you learned this, but I love that the first thing you do when coming inside is take off your shoes, and that you have to do it. I love that you are 100% boy! I think it's funny that you always seek out the oldest boys at the playground to play with, and they usually enjoy playing with you because you're so fun. I love your football-shaped feet. I love how you hold a pencil or crayon. None of your drawings ever look like anything but scribbling, and I love that too! I love that you are getting picky about the clothes you wear...you just want to wear that yellow race car shirt everyday. I love your quirky trait of requiring that you sleep "on top and under" your comforter; it's practically a tragedy when the sheets accidentally touch any part of your body! It's also this compulsion that makes me have to cut every tag out of your shirts because you don't like the feel. I find it funny that you think it is so hilarious to "steal" Grandpa Cam's yogurts and pudding. I think you're going to be a soccer or track star because of your little sharply defined calves, and that you like running so much. I love those moments when you want to cuddle, rare as they may be! I love how squinty your eyes get when you smile real big, and the infectious laugh that usually comes along with it. I'm so glad you love to read, count, and learn letters. And I love that you can already spell your name and "stop." I enjoy your sense of humor, and I'm pretty sure that you'll turn out to be sarcastic like me. There are a thousand more things I could write about you, but most of all, I love that I am your mom! I love you buddy!

got milk?

We do! At any given time we have 4 different types of milk in our fridge. Then when my mom comes down, (she's here every week for 2 days to watch the kids while I'm at school) we move up to 5. I just realized this last week when I was digging around for about 5 minutes trying to find the right one.

Whole milk for Addie, 2% for Stu and Carter, 1% for me, Skim for Mom, and Chocolate Soy Milk for everyone!

jokes & tricks

The comic relief around here!

I've been trying to get Addie to do her new tricks on camera. We tried to get them all, but I guess she can only handle 3 at a time. {Apparently I dress her in this blue outfit quite a bit too}

let's go!

Excuse me while I jump on my new bike and look in my cool wallet to make sure I have my license.

Thanks Uncle Ben & family, and Great-grandpa & Grandma Parks for my fun toys!

a wormy kind of day

This last week while out weeding, Carter discovered worms. I thought he might be afraid of them, so I made a really big deal about how cool they were, and he ended up having a lot of fun. He found "daddy" ones and "baby" ones, and would carry them around the yard, putting them in different places to see what they'd do.

It tickles!

Looking for a "good one"
