An ode to Carter!

I love the color of your hair, and the fact that it's waterproof. The words you say that I'll miss when you learn them the right way: baskethoop (basketball), crocodikle, "fork it up," and the fact that you talk in 3rd person. I love your profile and your huge blue eyes.
I'm glad that you are so protective of Addie, even to me when I raise my voice at her. I love that you ALWAYS want to race. I like that you find joy in picking flowers for me, and that they're always dandelions. I love that you're so sure of yourself. I am amazed at how good your memory is, and you always let me know when I get something wrong! I think it's funny when I find you hiding after you've done something you know you're not supposed to do, and usually it's because you snuck some candy. I don't know how you learned this, but I love that the first thing you do when coming inside is take off your shoes, and that you
have to do it.
I love that you are 100% boy! I think it's funny that you always seek out the oldest boys at the playground to play with, and they usually enjoy playing with you because you're so fun.
I love your football-shaped feet. I love how you hold a pencil or crayon. None of your drawings ever look like anything but scribbling, and I love that too!
I love that you are getting picky about the clothes you wear...you just want to wear that yellow race car shirt everyday. I love your quirky trait of requiring that you sleep "on top
and under" your comforter; it's practically a tragedy when the sheets accidentally touch any part of your body! It's also this compulsion that makes me have to cut every tag out of your shirts because you don't like the feel. I find it funny that you think it is so hilarious to "steal" Grandpa Cam's yogurts and pudding. I think you're going to be a soccer or track star because of your little sharply defined calves, and that you like running so much.
I love those moments when you want to cuddle, rare as they may be! I love how squinty your eyes get when you smile real big, and the infectious laugh that usually comes along with it. I'm so glad you love to read, count, and learn letters. And I love that you can already spell your name and "stop." I enjoy your sense of humor, and I'm pretty sure that you'll turn out to be sarcastic like me. There are a thousand more things I could write about you, but most of all,
I love that I am your mom! I love you buddy!
